Deep Conditioning vs Your Regular Conditioner
If you are an avid fan of hair care and hair treatments, you may have heard about deep conditioning. But how is it different from your regular everyday conditioner?
As a hair salon in Lanham, Maryland, we perform hair treatments such as deep conditioning regularly. While we do your regular conditioner or conditioning shampoo in the shower for less than 5 minutes, deep conditioning is done in salons with a thick conditioning product and can take from 10 to 30 minutes.
Regular conditioner is a formula about as thick as your regular shampoo. These can be used multiple times a week or even daily to strengthen, soften, or increase the shine of your hair. On the other hand, deep conditioners are an entirely different product made to be more potent than everyday conditioners. It provides a more noticeable and long-lasting effect. These can come in a thicker liquid or paste form that we massage into your hair and left for 10 to 30 minutes.
Are you interested in using your regular conditioner as a deep conditioner? It’s not going to work. Everyday conditioners do not penetrate hair to the center while deep conditioners use heat and time to penetrate through each strand of hair that leaves it more silky and supple.
